13. Professionalism for Affiliations
13.1. Sponsored Content Policies
Professional journalism principles shall have clear and distinct editorial practices in distinguishing advertising and sponsored content, commercial or commissioned, from editorial content independently produced by the Media Outlet.
Do your Editorial Guidelines have specific policies for distinguishing commercial or sponsored content?
YesIf you want to publish additional information, please provide it here.
In advertising sales, Gvara is guided by the norms of the Law of Ukraine “On Advertising” and other legislative acts regulating advertising and sponsorship in the media.
Gwara does not publish unlabeled advertising. This means that any publication paid for by a third-party legal entity or individual contains a special designation.
Our advertising formats are placed in the media kit.
Gvara uses several types of advertising labels:
advertising, promo;
Reposts of advertising materials on Gvara pages in social networks and newsletters are labelled in exactly the same way as in publications on the site;
partnership (ethical cooperation between the sponsor and the editorial staff, if they have common values).
The list of advertising labels may be updated in accordance with media market trends and innovations in the field of native advertising. Publication under the rights of advertising means that the content is provided by the advertiser or produced by the editorial staff, but agreed with the advertiser.
The advertiser is responsible for the content of advertising materials. This is useful content, and such materials are not journalism.
The Gwara editorial staff may refuse to publish material even with an advertising label if it contains accusations against an individual or legal entity, the authenticity of which the editorial staff cannot verify.
The editorial staff reserves the right to refuse to publish advertising materials if they contradict the values and mission of Gwara or the editorial strategy. The commercial department respects editorial independence and does not interfere in editorial policy.
We work to ensure that Gwara journalists do not write advertising texts. If this is not possible (for example, in cases of special projects with native advertising, the creation of which requires specialized competencies), before starting work on the project, the journalist must explain the principles of editorial policy to commercial partners.
We do not work with the following requests:
alcohol;
tobacco;
gambling;
microfinance organizations;
a conflict topic or unproven product effectiveness;
lies;
Companies from Russia and projects with Russian roots;
organizations and individuals whose reputation our editorial team has doubts about;
information that does not pass fact-checking;
Advertising of political parties.
6. Direct speech
In the “Direct speech” section, participants in social, cultural projects and non-profit initiatives can publish a story about their activities by submitting an application to our editorial team.
This is something like a column, but it is written by the authors of the initiative themselves, and our editorial team helps with this: it does a fact check, asks additional questions to reveal the project and interest readers in it. At the end of each direct speech, we add a note that this is not an editorial material and the author is responsible for its content.
You can place your unique material on our website for free for non-profit initiatives - this is our contribution to the development of social projects. To do this, write to editor@gwaramedia.com. The editorial team has restrictions on the ability to publish such columns.
Commercial projects and brands can cooperate with us as advertisers in the “Direct Speech” section.
The editorial team may deny access or free access to “Direct Speech” without explaining the reasons. All published materials are stored forever.
7. Columns

13.2. Sponsored Content Indicators
In Media Outlets, sponsored content shall be clearly identified with the words content 'sponsored by’, ‘paid by’ or other explicit and easy to understand terms. Particular care should be taken in distinguishing so called ‘native’ content (where the item is sponsored but is published or broadcast next to ordinary editorial content) from its surrounding material.
Do you publish any sponsored content?
YesDo your Editorial Guidelines require all sponsored content to be clearly labelled or otherwise made clear?
