2. Editorial Mission
2.1. Editorial Mission Statement
The Media Outlet shall disclose its editorial mission statement which shall be consistent with the fundamental ethical principles of trustworthy journalism, and, as described in the Preamble, should incorporate principles of: ethical practice, good governance, self-regulation and Engagement with the public. A Media Outlet shall set out how it proposes to uphold these journalism principles through its Editorial Guidelines and processes which shall include arrangements in relation to internal accountability and of appropriate external accountability (see clauses 9 – 15). Best practice is to have these arrangements codified and made available publicly.

Rai is the concessionaire of the Italian Public Radio and Television and Multimedia Service, able to guarantee a wide and differentiated offer, present on all platforms, in line with the 2018-2022 Service Contract. The mission of the Radio and Television General Public Service is based on the principles laid down by the Italian Constitution and the European Union with the 1989 TV without Frontiers Directive and subsequent amendments, the IX Protocol on Public Television annexed to the Treaty of Amsterdam of 1997 and the subsequent Communication of the Commission of the European Communities 2009/C 257/01 published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 27 October 2009. This mission, in the framework of the concessionary report, is governed by the national legislative and regulatory provisions (in particular the Consolidated Law on Audiovisual and Radio Media Services, as last amended by the Rai Reform Law of 28 December 2015, no. 220) in compliance with the aforesaid principles through the Articles of Association, the Service Contract, the Code of Ethics, the Organisation, Management and Control Model.
