2. Editorial Mission

2.1. Editorial Mission Statement

The Media Outlet shall disclose its editorial mission statement which shall be consistent with the fundamental ethical principles of trustworthy journalism, and, as described in the Preamble, should incorporate principles of: ethical practice, good governance, self-regulation and Engagement with the public. A Media Outlet shall set out how it proposes to uphold these journalism principles through its Editorial Guidelines and processes which shall include arrangements in relation to internal accountability and of appropriate external accountability (see clauses 9 – 15). Best practice is to have these arrangements codified and made available publicly.

"SLOBIDSKY KRAI" is the oldest media brand in the Kharkiv region, which combines a print publication, a website, and social media pages.

Editorial Mission:

- To draw the attention of Ukraine and the world to events in the Kharkiv region.

- To promote the development of civil society and tolerance.

- To inform the residents of the region about events in the region, the country, and the world.

- To provide knowledge that facilitates public control over the activities of the authorities and the formation of an active community.

Principles of Editorial Activity:

1. Independence - non-interference of the founders in creative and commercial activities.

2. Objectivity and Balance - providing reliable information considering the positions of all sides.

3. Respect for Human Rights - adherence to dignity, privacy, and the prevention of discrimination.

4. Responsibility - readiness to acknowledge and correct mistakes.

5. Compliance with the Law - working within the framework of Ukrainian legislation and international standards of journalism.
